Bio

I was born in Milan by chance

My real hometown is Naples, where my family lived and where they took me back a few days after I came to the world. I have always appreciated Milan, but the fog is not my cup of tea: I grew up with the light, the scents, the sounds and the flavors of Naples and Sorrento, where my family later moved when I was a little girl.

I already knew what I would become at the age of 6, because I felt a powerful impulse coming from within towards music and acting, two passions that I cultivated simultaneously, without choosing between one and the other. It is like having two sisters - and I know something about it, I am the first of five children - very different from each other but loved all the same. Even today, I would not know which one to put first.

I have always believed that a talent should be guided, educated and transformed: that is why I finished school at 19and then went to Rome, where I studied acting and singing at "LaScaletta", the innovative school-laboratory where my teachers were two iconic figures such as Tonino Pierfederici and Gianni Diotaiuti. In the meantime, I graduated in History and Criticism of Cinema (with final mark 110 cum laude) at ‘La Sapienza’ university with prof. Giovanni Spagnoletti.

I participated and loved the theatrical teaching workshops of Peter Brook, Orazio Costa, Claudio Remondi and Riccardo Caporossi, which opened up worlds of formidable depth to me, igniting my imagination.

With Rem & Cap I acted in"Mondo Nuovo", getting closer to a poetic theater of experimentation, which then led me to play Thelma in "After Magritte", by Tom Stoppard.

Soon after, I got the part of Vera in"Futurismo in palcoscenico".

I leveraged on my classical culture to tackle the complex roles of Circe in the theatrical reduction of “The Odyssey”and of Antigone in “Oedipus a Colonus” - I was also Salome by Oscar Wilde and Nora in Ibsen's “A Doll's House”.

Alongside Omero Antonutti, I was a narrator in the world premiere of “Everyman”at the Duomo di Milano, a morality play for Soli, Orchestra and Chorus.

If theater was my first love, I believe cinema is the most representative art of our times, giving me the opportunity to work with amazingly interesting experimental directors such as GiuseppeFerrara, Maurizio Ponzi, Massimo Martella, Fabrizio Ancillai, Tiziana Gagnor, Massimo Costa.

Being Sarin in the short movie"Kamikaze" gave me many satisfactions and an award at the NICE festival in New York for "the intense and exciting interpretation".

In short, I went through a very varied journey of artistic growth, made up of different experiences, stimulating moments, interesting meetings.

But most interesting of all, the decisive one happened shortly after. I call it the luckiest meeting of my life. It is the one with the composer Maurizio Fabrizio, whom I later had the joy of marrying. A beautiful love story came from this meeting, culminating in a wonderful child named Federico, and a lot of wonderful music.

Husband, Mentor, Teacher.

Maurizio wrote about 700 music pieces, winning three Sanremo music festivals, but above all, he is my teacher. Thanks to his patience,I learned how to write songs.

The first collaboration resulted in"Rosa", which became the main theme of "Bebè Discount" byTiziana Gagnor, a docu-film on the illegal adoption of Guatemalan children.

In 2008, Maurizio wrote "Il Mondo di Federico", a piece for 6 percussions, which premiered at La Scala inMilan, and I had the privilege of participating in its composition. The orchestral version of the piece, performed by the Gioacchino RossiniPhilharmonic conducted by Maestro Donato Renzetti, will be released on CD in the autumn of 2020.

In 2011 "Bella la Vita" was released, an album in which Maurizio and I interpret seven of his most famous songs, including "I migliori anni della nostra vita", "Almeno tu nell'Universo", "Acquarello".

At that moment I felt Maurizio's desire to go back to singing on stage and not just in the recording studio, as he used to do in the early years of his career, so as to the one communicating the profound reasons for his music in person.

Singing together with him, in unison, with a deliberately essential orchestration, proved a happy choice, giving life to forgotten songs, and a new look to very famous pieces that Maurizio wrote in his 50 years of career.

The result was a highly charming, captivating sound, which will be the stylistic code of a show that I conceived and built around Maurizio, and of which I co-starred.

The title is "L'arte dell'Incontro": an in-depth and original encounter with the artistic career of one of the most prolific and appreciated Italian composers.

Accompanying us on stage were Ellade Bandini on drums, Gigi Cappellotto on bass, Emiliano Begni on piano and, in recent concerts, the masterful guitar of a new entry, Adriano Martino.

With the same staff comes the new show presented in Milan in December 2019, which we wanted to call "I migliori anni della nostra vita": a journey through music and words, originating from the experience of the "Art of encounter", to tell the miracle of musical composition.

And since artistic collaborations generate other artistic collaborations enriching each other, in recent years I have also had the great pleasure of being on stage with Michele Zarrillo, Mango, Angelo Branduardi who called me to duet with him in "LordBaker", from his album" Il Rovo e la Rosa".

Meanwhile our life has changed, after along time in the wonderful Rome we now live in London, which for some years has been our new home and today is a source of inspiration for the album I am composing.

In August 2022 the song "Cancion Perdida”- which I wrote for myself and Toquinho - has been released. It is the single from an album that I care a great deal about, whose genesis is strongly linked to the urgency I have to take back my lightness and give joy.

The year 2023 brought the release of two very significant singles: "Melancolia Secreta", enriched by collaboration with Angelo Branduardi on the violin, and "Acuarela", a Spanish version of Toquinho's hit "Acquarello."

In November 2023, I had the honor of seeing my song "I Numeri" participate in the "Zecchino d'oro" music festival.

Work in progress…
